[MetaFilter] My childhood memories are 99% staring out the window on loooooong cross-country car trips with Iranian pop music of the 60's and 70's on the 8-track filling the long stretches between stations playing NPR news and Paul Harvey.

[MetaFilter] Meet the new boss, same as the old boss | MetaFilter: It could very well be that Ahmadi-nejad did win the election or that Mousavi is just as hard line as he was during his last presidency. But that there was such an large turnout (assuming that number is at least credible), that so many people are unconvinced of the legality of the results and have chosen active civil disobedience to express their disbelief is strong indication that democracy is valued in Iran and have become part of the culture.
