Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini confirms that the only reason Barack ...
[Bare Naked Islam] BNI, I think a change in the title is necessary, much as Khomeini was more colourful and definitely VERY much an enemy of absolutely everything Western (as well as being an absolute kill-joy, even hating humour)!!! [When the late Italian journaliste Orianna Fallaci was interviewing him and he openly attacked Western music (apparently despising it all and wanting it banned), she asked him "Even Bach?

Egypt Gets Its Khomeini: Qaradawi Returns in Triumph | Solomonia
[Solomonia] It was 32 years ago almost to the day when Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini returned in triumph to Tehran to take the leadership of that country. Qaradawi has a tougher job but he’s up to the challenge if his health holds up.

The Rushdie affair, and the fatwa in particular, seemed like a warning that the seeds of the Iranian revolution were being successfully scattered across the globe, not least into the heart of the secular West.
