[Eurasia Review] Political And Legal Obstacles In Iraq | Eurasia Review: Among the most vocal critics are the followers of Shi‘ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr (the Sadrist Trend), the Fadhila Party, and some other Iraqi nationalists, who have accused the GoI of surrendering the nation’s oil wealth to foreigners, and insist that Iraq can develop its oil resources relying solely on national efforts. With that decision, it does not matter whether Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki or Allawi "won" the election by a handful of seats.

[Corrente] Seven Deadly Sins in Afghanistan | Corrente: We are killing thousands of civilians per year, plus non-civilians, plus over 1,000 US troops with over 5,000 wounded, plus mercenaries, plus those diagnosed with brain injuries after leaving Afghanistan, plus suicides which are now probably higher than combat deaths, plus the violence to others that troops bring home, plus anyone damaged by heroin during our occupation of Afghanistan. The end result might well be the ultimate subversion of the will of the Iraqi electorate, with the marginalisation of Maliki, Allawi and the Sadrists - all the top vote-getters from 7 March - and a government formed by compromise candidates from the remains of SLA and Iraqiyya and with the Kurds and ISCI in dominant roles.
