[List of the Day] The Decade's 25 Most-Essential Foreign Films :: List of the Day ...: Lovingly adapted from Marjane Satrapi's celebrated graphic novels, and lavishly animated in a sleek black-and-white palette, Persepolis is that uncommon thing in cinema: an animated film for adults. The luminosity of Satrapi's autobiographical tale is on full display, from a child's innocence lost to falling in love for the first time, all backdropped against the turbulence of the Iranian Revolution.
[Releaselog | RLSLOG.net] Releaselog | RLSLOG.net » Persepolis 2007 DVDRip XviD-VoMiT: How do I put subtitles into the movie is there are program or something? I have the link from open subtitles I just need to know how to put the subtitles on to the movie.
[Protect The Human Main Feed] Persepolis trailer | Videos | Protect The Human: Persepolis is the poignant story of a young girl coming-of-age in Iran during the Islamic Revolution and it's a fantastic animation. I have to say it's even better in the original french version with english subtitles/
[The F-Word: Latest features and reviews] 'Freedom always has a price' - The F-Word: I first saw the film Persepolis in May at the Cornerhouse in Manchester, in French with English subtitles, and in high definition. Normally I wouldn’t care whether a film is in HD or not, but, having seen it, I feel Persepolis is one of those rare films that actually benefits from the technology.
[Cinematical] Fan Rant: For Those Who Can't (or Won't) Read Subtitles ...: Like you however I don't read French well enough to be able to enjoy it in writing sadly :( A couple of years ago (not long after 9-11) I acquired the Quran to check out what all the fuss is about ;) Right next to the translation is the original text in Arabic and though I don't get it at all, it's beautiful to look at from a purely aesthetic perspective.
[Coming out this week] Persepolis - Screenrush.co.uk: This is a heartbreaking true story of a childhood coinciding with regime change and war in Iran. It is seen through the eyes of Marjane Satrapi who grew up a tomboy, larking around in sneakers and getting into scraps with boys.
[Pandagon Comments] Pandagon :: Review of “Persepolis” :: February :: 2008: Yes, an American studio picked it up after the fact, and supposedly dubbed in into english (although when I saw it, it was in French with subtitles). Doesn't make it not-french. Great post, Amanda. It was a stunning film, and your review is ..... part of interview: http://www.powells.com/authors/satrapi.html. Dave: In Persepolis 2, you talk about the Iranian government filling up citizens' brains with worries about Is my veil in place? or Are my trousers long enough? ...
[Word Count Books Blog] Orlando Sentinel - Persepolis Animated: I wouldn't mind seeing. Watching a foreign film in it's original language with subtitles can often reveal surprising, subtle things that are lost in translation (so to speak).
[girish] girish: TIFF 2007: I believe the Perraults were screened off some Beta format rather than DVD, but still -- I was amazed that the combined might of TIFF and the NFB couldn't come up with any prints, and wonder if it was a francophone/subtitling thing. I believe the past couple years -- the [anglo-centric] Don Owen and Peter Mettler retros -- have been better in terms of showing film rather than video, so here's hoping.
[Reading Group Guides Blog] ReadingGroupGuides.com - Blog: My #1 book/movie choice for more-adventurous reading groups would be Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi and the excellent film of the same name. I always encourage reading groups to stretch their boundaries every once in awhile, and this combination would certainly do that.
[Roger Ebert's Journal] recent Two Thumbs Up® reviews - Roger Ebert's Journal: It only makes sense that an individual author, like Harlan Ellison or even maybe Roger Ebert, should control his own work for his lifetime, without having to go through legal rigmarole every fifteen or twenty years to maintain it. At the same time, work produced for hire ought to recieve more flexible controls, especially with so much time lapsed since its creation.
[The Outland Institute] John's MIFF blog: There's No Place Like Home « The Outland Institute: Strong docos with Trumbo, amazing animation experiences with Sita Sings the Blues and Persepolis, a special mention to the unrelenting violence of The Horseman and lastly thank you Richard for finishing it all off with the bloodsplattering wild ride of REC.

[Blaze Danielle] Portable Palette Contest! « Blaze Danielle: It's about an Iranian girl living through the Islamic revolution. It was extremely touching and funny, and oddly enough it's a French .
[Schembri] The Year in Film - The Age Blogs: Schembri: But fine as these films were, it was gross-out king Adam Sandler who got the Big Message out to the masses with his hugely successful political satire You Don't Mess With the Zohan. This ham-fisted romp about an Israeli agent who fulfills his dream of becoming a hairdresser in New York might have lacked the finesse of Bunuel but it did prove, as did Harold & Kumar, that multiplex audiences are happiest when important topical issues come with a wide assortment of pratfalls and dick jokes.
