Iran Reviews > Regional Rule in Iraq, or Breakup of the Nation?
[The Captains Journal] “The American defeat and withdrawal from Iraq will forever bury the Neoconservative current in the U.S.,”¦while the formation of an Islamist state in Iraq, which will be a natural ally of the Islamic Republic of Iran and will form a contiguous link between Iran and Palestine through Syria and Lebanon, will bring about a sea change in the geo-strategic balance in the region in favour of Iran and to Americas detriment. This new alliance with its huge size will directly influence all developments in the Arab and Muslim Middle East”.

[Patriotdaily.com] Patriot Daily :: Bush Rejects Iranian Peace Offer & Diplomacy: Meanwhile, Bush is preparing to protect the world from Iran with defensive military measures reminiscent of President Reagans proposed star war initiative to fight the other super-power at the time, the Soviet Union. The Bush administration is “moving to establish a new antimissile site in Europe that would be designed to stop attacks by Iran against the United States and its European allies.” In fact, this proposed antimissile site is the most recent progeny of Reagans space-based antimissile shield. It is interesting that this proposal is a “long-envisioned antimissile site” at an estimated cost of $1.6 billion and that the proposal “has run into some opposition in Congress.” Perhaps this very weak Congress will drop its opposition to this “long-envisioned” baby star wars once Bush more directly connects it to US security against axis-of-evil member Iran.

[World-citizenship.org] Geopolitical Analysis » Blog Archive » India at IAEA voting on Iran: It will be noted that while sectarian violence continues unabated in Pakistan and the Shias - whose interests Iran claims to be safeguarding - are at the receiving end, Iran never raised the issue either in the OIC or at the UN or at the Human Rights Commission. As against this Iran has often raised her voice against imaginary and unsubstantiated human rights violations in the Indian part of Kashmir.
[Big Lizards:Blog:Main] Will the Circle Be Broken? I Hope So!: John "Hindrocket" Hinderaker has a long and interesting piece up on Power Line asking whether the policies of the American Left, as personified by President Russell Feingold, would differ all that much from those of the center-right; he concludes that they probably would be very similar:
[Old Hickory's Weblog] Israel defeats Lebanese gas stations: William Arkin has been writing a lot about the Israel-Lebanon War. The idea that the Cheney-Bush team looks at this as a template to be emulated in attacking Iran and/or Syria is a sobering thought.
[Atlas Shrugs] ATLAS INTERVIEWS JOHN BOLTON: Bolton: Well in part because they've committed atthe level of foreign ministers that if Iran doesn't give the rightanswer, doesn't suspend all of its uranium enrichment activity, thatthey accept that there will be sanctions and that we will do that inthe Security Council. Now there remains a lot of hard work, but that'sthe commitment they've made and we're going to take that commitment anduse it in the Security Council, but I should say we're not just goingto rely on what we can do in the Security Council, because there aremany steps that we can take outside the Council and are taking inEurope, in Japan, in terms of currency and other kinds of financialtransactions, to explain to people that if they're doing due diligencefrom a business point of view, that Iran may not be the best country todo business with, and there have been signs in the press for examplethat Japan may be reconsidering its investment in the Azadegan oilfield, which would be very sensible.
